Departments of Insurance in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina have issues emergency orders related to Tropical Storm Helene.

The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire has issued Directive 24-EX-6, which prohibits insurers from cancelling policies for non-payment for policyholders in certain counties affected by Tropical Storm Helene. The Directive was issued and effective October 1, 2024.

The North Carolina Department of Insurance is issued Bulletin Number 24-B-13, which announces in response to Tropical Storm Helene the activation of disaster-related automatic stay of proof of loss requirements, and premium and debt deferrals for residents of certain counties. The bulletin was issued and effective September 30, 2024.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance has issued Bulletin 2024-12, which informs insurers that they are expected to make accommodations for policyholders directly impacted by Tropical Storm Helene included, but not limited to, extending certain deadlines and waiving late fees. The bulletin was issued October 1, 2024.
